Description

In the Kanto region during the Edo period (1603-1868), decorative carvings of gorgeous temples and shrines, including Nikko Toshogu, flourished.
In particular, Shimamura Entetsu, a carver active in the middle of the Edo period, created decorative sculptures for temples and shrines in Chiba Prefecture and elsewhere, including
dragons, ・ baku, ・ lions, and other sacred beasts, peonies, ・ lotuses, ・ cherry blossoms, and other gorgeous column sculptures.
His pupils produced many masters, including the first "Ihachi of the waves"™ (Takeshi Ihachi Nobuyoshi).

We are pleased to present here the footprints of Entei through his works.
